Books are only the beginning at the Grayslake Area Public Library!  To achieve our mission: Connecting Community | Enriching Lives | Inspiring Ideas, we offer unique materials to borrow, cutting-edge technology, friendly and experienced staff,  essential services, and space for people to come together. 

Uncover unexpected items in our Library of Things. Check out a telescope, bird watching kit, board games, puzzles, Chromebooks, WiFi hotspots, GoPro camera, portable chargers, job seeker kit, or a sewing machine. You can also borrow STEAM kits and themed activity backpacks for hands-on discovery! 

Find your next great read or TV show to binge.  As a member of a consortium, we give you access to over 5 million items!  If you need a recommendation, let our friendly, experienced staff help you. Our Curbside Pickup service provides a quick and easy way for you to get library materials.

Create it and make it in our makerspace, The Hub; a space for creation and collaboration! The Hub offers a 3D printer, laser engraver, embroidery machine, Silhouette Cameo, and materials to foster artistic and technological creativity. PC laptops loaded with Adobe Creative Cloud and Audacity, etc., are available. 

Discover our wide range of engaging and enriching programs that are free and open to all.  Including interactive storytimes, creative arts and crafts, fun animal discovery, STEAM, historical and cultural exploration, small business development, homeschooling, SAT/ACT prep, etc.  

Use a Grayslake Library card for exclusive free access to our robust digital reading and entertainment collection with free streaming and downloadable materials. Find thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, digital music, movies, TV shows, and documentaries to read, watch, or listen to at home or on the go. 

Dig into your family ancestry using Ancestry.com or research the best new appliance on Consumer Reports.  With a Grayslake Library card, you can access these and many other online skill development tools and research databases for free.

Our building has a variety of spaces for studying, meeting, and gathering. The public meeting rooms can accommodate small-large nonprofit, civic, and cultural organizations/groups, while our study rooms offer individuals or small groups private spaces. Both are reservable.

Plus, take advantage of these additional library services: free Wifi, public computers, document scanner, fax machine, voter registration, notary services, virtual reference help, homebound delivery, free/reduced-cost museum passes, and teacher/homeschool loan requests.
