What is your favorite book/author, and why?
This is a difficult question, because there are so many to choose from. Currently, my favorite book is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas. It tackles contemporary issues through the lens of a teenager. It is a realistic look at what life is like growing up in a time of racial tension and socio-economic disparity. As a whole, I gravitate towards contemporary American literature and historical non-fiction. Books are a reflection of our society, and the ones that approach difficult subjects head on have always been of interest to me.

How long have you been a member of our community?  What’s your favorite thing to do in the Grayslake Area?
I have lived in Grayslake since 2012. My favorite thing to do in Grayslake is walk around downtown. There is always something going on, from the Farmer’s Market to musical performances. I love the way the town comes alive in the summer.

What’s your educational background?
I have a Bachelors of English, a Masters in Teaching, and a Masters in Educational Leadership. My love of reading is what drew me to my career as an educator and former English teacher.

Who is in your family?
My family consists of my wife Kristin, and our three children, Lincoln (5), Harrison (3) and Adeline (5 months).

Fun fact?
I am absolutely obsessed with competitive cooking television shows. Even though most of my cooking consists of chicken nuggets and mac and cheese, I one day hope to hone my own skills and become a really good cook.
