What is your favorite book/author and why?
I am an avid reader and I have a number of books that I love. I enjoy both fiction and non-fiction. Some of my favorite books are The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, American Gods by Neil Gaiman, The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern, and Life After Life by Kate Atkinson. I love a well written story that takes me to a completely different world. When I read non-fiction it is usually on a topic related to American history.
How long have you been a member of our community? What’s your favorite thing to do in Grayslake?
Our family has lived in Hainesville for 27 years and even before we moved here, I was a teacher in CCSD46. I obviously enjoy going to the library, but I also enjoy walking and biking in Central Park and Rollins Savanna.
What’s your educational background?
I have an elementary education degree from Indiana University and a master's degree in education from Barat College.
Who is in your family?
My husband Gregg and I have three children. Cameron is 20 and he is studying civil engineering at the University of Illinois, Abby is 19 and she is studying nursing at Purdue University, and Emma is a seventh grader at Grayslake Middle School. We also have a chocolate lab named Jessie and a pet turtle named Orange.
I grew up in a small town in Indiana and I only had 25 students in my graduating class from a public high school.
