Why don't you just include every author in the Author-matic Holds Service?
The Author-matic Holds service directly impacts our purchasing decisions and budgets. It would be awesome if we could guarantee automatic purchase for every author, but we would quickly run out of money and shelf space!
If you would like to suggest a new author, we will keep track of these suggestions for possible future considerations.
Why limit to 30 authors?
Same reasons as above. Budget and space limitations! You can still manually request the titles by authors you want whenever you want, regardless of participation in this program.
Will I always get the new books by the author(s) I selected on the day they are released?
Maybe, but probably not. We would exceed our materials budget if we purchased 1 copy of every book for every person on an author list. You will get the book faster than if you had to place it on hold.
Can I get Large Print Type books?
Yes! Be sure to select that option at the top of the form.
Can I use this service for eBooks?
Unfortunately, we cannot yet place automatic holds for eMaterials.
Do you have to have a Grayslake Area Public Library Card to sign up for Author-matic Holds?
No. As long as you have registered your library card with us, you can sign up for Author-matic Holds.
If you are a Grayslake cardholder, your hold takes priority over cards from other libraries for Grayslake items.
