Expand Your Universe - Summer Reading 2019

“Expand Your Universe” this summer by signing up for Summer Reading!

All ages will be tasked with reading challenges, trying new activities, and unlocking badges online through Beanstack.
You’ll receive a sign-up prize, and other prizes throughout the summer – with a chance to win one of our Grand Prizes when you complete the program.
It’s summer fun for everyone, and a great way to encourage kids (and adults!) to read over summer break, preventing the
summer slide.

Pre-Readers

Newborns through preschoolers can participate in Summer Reading, even if they’re not yet reading on their own! Choose from a variety of Early Literacy activities that include reading, writing, talking, singing, and playing to get started. Win prizes for registering, finishing 10 activities, and completing 20 activities.

For finishing the challenge, you’ll earn a book to take home and keep and an entry into the Grand Prize Drawing. Grand Prize options include: an Oliver Jeffers book and plush set, a Botley early coding robot, a kitchen chemistry lab set, or a Merge Cube with VR goggles.

Independent Readers

School-aged children are challenged to read for at least 20 minutes a day for 30 days this summer. Win prizes for registering, finishing 10 and 20 days of reading, and completing the challenge. NOTE: Incoming kindergartners that may not be reading on their own yet can complete the challenge by being read to by a caregiver or sibling.

Teens

7-12th grade students earn a badge for each title or activity they complete. Each badge you earn enters you into a weekly gift card drawing, and you earn a prize just for signing up!

Complete the program by finishing 9 titles or activities to receive a fisheye smartphone lens and an entry for the Grand Prize Drawing. Finish the other 9 titles or activities to select a book to take home and keep, and earn two additional chances to win a Grand Prize. Grand Prize options include a drone or a $100 gift card to Gift of Games.

Adults

Adults 18+ earn a badge for each title or activity they complete. Each badge you earn enters you into a weekly gift card drawing, and you earn a prize just for signing up (while supplies last)!
