Explore the wonderful world of 3D printing and have designs printed on the library’s 3D printers! Anyone with a valid library card (from any public library) registered at the Grayslake Area Public Library can submit 3D print requests.
How It Works
- Find or create a 3D design and submit an .stl, .obj, or .3mf file using our online request form.
- 3D print designs must be smaller than 250 × 250 × 250 millimeters (9.84 x 9.84 x 9.84 inches) and cannot take more than 10 hours to print.
- The library reserves the right to disapprove 3D print requests due to violation of the policy or equipment limitations, including any designs that are:
- Unsafe, harmful, dangerous or pose an immediate threat to the well-being of self or others, including but not limited to a weapon or look-alike weapon.
- Obscene or otherwise inappropriate for the library environment
- Your design is printed using a single color of PLA plastic filament. Choose from our list of available filament colors, or choose “Surprise Me” for a random color choice.
- The cost is 10 cents per gram of filament used for your design. Pre-approve the cost up to a certain amount when submitting your file, or we’ll send you an estimated cost for you to review.
- Once we receive your approval, we will add your design to our queue and contact you when it is ready for pick up!
- Pay at the Front Desk when you pick up your item or pay online if using Curbside Pickup.
